Hence, it is important to take your joint pains seriously. If you have severe and persistent pain, it is better the consult a doctor at the earliest. He/she will help you to diagnose the reason for your pain and will advise remedies before it gets too worse.

One of the major reasons for joint pains is arthritis. It can cause swelling and inflammation of your joints along with causing excruciating pain. Lupus, gout, osteoporosis, certain infectious diseases, etc. can also cause joint pain.

Ignoring joint pain or reducing the movement of aching joints will not help you to get rid of it. In fact, it may even make your pain more severe. However, there are some simple exercises that you can use for joint pain relief. You can use them to ease your pain and to gain the mobility of your joints back. Following are some of such simple exercises that you can do at home. But before doing them, you have to check with your doctor first to know if you should do them or not.

Range-of-motion exercises

They help to relieve the stiffness of your muscles along with improving their range of motion. These exercises include rolling your shoulders forward and backward and raising your arms over the head, etc. You can do them multiple times daily for getting the maximum effect. But take care not to overstress yourself.

Strengthening exercise

These exercises are useful to strengthen muscles that support and protect your joints. Weight training is one of the best examples of such exercises that will help you to improve and maintain your muscle strength. However, you should not overexert yourself. Avoid exercising the same muscle groups for two consecutive days. You have to take rest for one day before repeating them. If your joints are swollen or painful take a break for two or more days as needed.

Aerobic exercise

Aerobic exercises can improve your overall fitness. It will help you to increase your energy and stamina, control your weight and improve cardiovascular health. Some easier aerobic exercises that can relieve your joint pain include swimming, walking, bicycling, etc.

Tips to protect your joints

Over exerting yourself with these exercises will make your condition worse. Therefore, it is important to take it slow. Warm up muscles first before you strengthen your exercise. Do slow impact workouts before moving into intense exercises.
