How Does CBD Work In The Body To Offer Pain Relief?
The pain relief benefits are sourced in the working mechanism of CBD inside the body. The endocannabinoid system of the body is responsible for regulating some of the major body functions like sleep, appetite, pain sensations, mood etc and the receptors of the system are present in various body parts including the skin.
CB1 and CB2 are the major endocannabinoid receptors in the body and CBD works by influencing the working of the receptors instead of binding to them directly. The influence of CBD on the endocannabinoid receptors is the mechanism behind the pain relief effects of CBD.

CBD For Arthritis Pain

Researchers applied CBD gel to rats with arthritis for four days continuously. The dosages included 0.6, 3.2, 6.2, 62.3 mg per day. The researchers found that there was a significant reduction in inflammation and pain in the rats. The study also found that the outcomes in rats that received 62.3 mg CBD per day was similar to the outcomes in rats that received 6.2 mg CBD per day, indicating that higher dosages does not always imply better pain relief.

In the two phase study, participants were given a combination of two compounds where one contained 9 percent CBD and no THC while the other contained 19% THC. The doses were taken orally and in phase I, no effects were felt when the doses were less than 100 mg but as the doses were increased to 200 mg, acute pain reduced by 55%.
In phase II, participants who received a combination of CBD and THC saw the frequency of attacks reducing by 40.4%.
